Project at a glance

Linden will include 36 residential units across four levels, located within easy walking distance of most downtown Perth amenities, services, and green spaces.

The unit mix will include:

  • 1 bachelor unit
  • 32 one-bedroom units
  • 3 two-bedroom units

Eight units, including 2 two-bedroom units, will be fully wheelchair accessible.

Ten units will be filled through Lanark County’s Rent-Geared-to-Income program, using the County’s centralized waiting list.

In addition, the existing house at the front of the property will be renovated to create additional co-operative housing units, along with a shared meeting and gathering area for members.

All units are expected to meet Lanark County’s definition of affordability. The housing charge for a one-bedroom unit will therefore not exceed $1,350 per month (not including parking or utilities).

Why Linden?

Linden is a member-run housing co-operative grounded in affordability, inclusion, and community.

Residents will be members of the co-operative, with a voice in decisions and opportunities to participate in shaping daily life at Linden. The design prioritizes accessibility, sustainability, and shared spaces that encourage connection, while respecting the established character of the neighbourhood.

Linden is intended for people who value stability, community, and a sense of belonging, and who are looking for long-term, affordable housing in a walkable, welcoming town.

Sustainability and building systems

The building is being designed to meet high environmental standards while integrating with the heritage character of the surrounding neighbourhood. Heating and cooling will be provided through high-efficiency heat pumps, supporting comfortable, energy-efficient living year-round.

Shared Spaces and Storage

Linden will include shared spaces that support both community life and everyday practical needs, including:

  • A large common room on the main floor
  • A smaller meeting room
  • A community kitchen connected to the common room
  • Outdoor gathering areas, including the front porch and a shared outdoor space at the rear of the parking lot
  • Dedicated storage space on the lowest level for each unit
  • Secure bike storage
