Linden’s Directors
Steven Welchner — Chair
Steven recently retired after 30 years as a union and human rights lawyer. This experience reinforced his view of the importance of collectives in key aspects of day-to-day living, such as employment and housing.
Additionally, his leadership roles as Chair of The Table Community Food Centre, as well as Chair of the Lanark Rural Transportation Working Group, have contributed to his understanding of community needs, particularly in terms of access and equity.
Steven is also Chair of the Perth Tay Tennis Club, on the Executive of the Lanark Basic Income Network and the Studio Theatre, and is the Treasurer of the local community allotment gardens.
Stephanie Corrin — Vice-Chair
Stephanie works at The Table Community Food Centre in Perth, Ontario as the Social Justice & Advocacy Coordinator. She brings a robust background in community organizing and advocacy, particularly in areas directly impacting the well-being of vulnerable populations.
The housing crisis catapulted her into pursuing the best affordable housing options for the residents of Perth and Lanark County. This pursuit led to the development of Linden Housing Co-operative.
Peter Seaby — Treasurer
Peter is a resident of Lanark County who is very concerned about the cost of housing. Linden is an opportunity to leverage Peter’s finance and accounting knowledge in the role of Treasurer.
Peter believes that the cooperative model is an amazing pathway to providing attainable homes while leaving control in the hands of the residents.
Trevor Oattes — Communications
Trevor is a communications professional, editor and journalist. He previously worked as the Assistant Editor of Legion Magazine and currently works as a Communications Officer at Algonquin College.
He has lived in Perth for the majority of his life and is excited to help bring cooperative housing to town.
Jeff Collver — Member at Large
Jeff’s first endeavour was that of an urban planner responsible for the comprehensive administration of a vast array of development control applications including subdivisions and multifamily developments. This time as a planner also included purchasing land and apartment buildings for the City of Ottawa for their social housing provider where he was responsible for acquisition of 650 residential units.
Jeff’s next endeavour saw him change gears and return to a 2 year college program to learn how to sensitively restore historic buildings. He then spent the rest of his working career as a self-employed renovator, landlord, timber-framer and furniture maker.
Shelley Welchner — Member at Large
Shelley Welchner is a former science teacher and community organizer currently volunteering for various organizations that contribute to creating a more equitable, caring, and inclusive community.
In addition to her work with Linden, Shelley is on the Steering Committee of Lanark Basic Income Network, is a Board member of The Perth Tay Tennis Club, a member of the Rural Transportation Working Group, and volunteers at the Table Community Food Centre for the Fresh Food Box Program.
